What Do YOU Do When You Get Hurt?

You get hurt. Bad. And maybe you want revenge. To get back at the person who hurt you. I think this is more of a natural response after you get hurt. Or maybe you are the type who doesn't care to get back at others; you just want to crawl into your shell and never let anyone in again. Or maybe, you need someone there, so you grab the closest person to you and hang on to them. I don't know..... Which are you? Or are there others I missed? You see, I'm sort of a combination of the three. When I am hurt, I get upset and maybe even angry at the person who did it, but then maybe I just want to disappear for a while. Although, I do need a person in my life to be friends with. People are very important to me. I guess you could say that I'm a total people person. But what is the right response after you get hurt?
First, let's explore these three options from above.....
Should you seek revenge? No. It is not our place to seek revenge. We are called to forgive those who have hurt us and love them anyways, not seek to hurt them back.
Should you crawl into your own little shell and never come back? No. I think that people need others- some more than others. But I do not think that you should give up on people in general. Although, I would suggest to learn from the past.
Should you always cling to people when you are hurt? Again, I'd say- no. I think that first of all, you need to run to the Lord. The Lord does place people in our lives to help us and show His love to us. But do not become only dependent on people and let them take the place of the Lord in your life.
So, what do you do when you get hurt by someone? I think the first thing you should do is run to the Lord. Tell Him all about it. Even though He already knows, I think it helps to just tell Him all. Ya know? He will show you what to do.
But definitely.......
Do not seek revenge. Leave that to the Lord.
