What Do YOU Do When You Get Hurt?

You get hurt. Bad. And maybe you want revenge. To get back at the person who hurt you. I think this is more of a natural response after you get hurt. Or maybe you are the type who doesn't care to get back at others; you just want to crawl into your shell and never let anyone in again. Or maybe, you need someone there, so you grab the closest person to you and hang on to them. I don't know..... Which are you? Or are there others I missed? You see, I'm sort of a combination of the three. When I am hurt, I get upset and maybe even angry at the person who did it, but then maybe I just want to disappear for a while. Although, I do need a person in my life to be friends with. People are very important to me. I guess you could say that I'm a total people person. But what is the right response after you get hurt?
First, let's explore these three options from above.....
Should you seek revenge? No. It is not our place to seek revenge. We are called to forgive those who have hurt us and love them anyways, not seek to hurt them back.
Should you crawl into your own little shell and never come back? No. I think that people need others- some more than others. But I do not think that you should give up on people in general. Although, I would suggest to learn from the past.
Should you always cling to people when you are hurt? Again, I'd say- no. I think that first of all, you need to run to the Lord. The Lord does place people in our lives to help us and show His love to us. But do not become only dependent on people and let them take the place of the Lord in your life.
So, what do you do when you get hurt by someone? I think the first thing you should do is run to the Lord. Tell Him all about it. Even though He already knows, I think it helps to just tell Him all. Ya know? He will show you what to do.
But definitely.......
Do not seek revenge. Leave that to the Lord.

Purity Conference- My thoughts

It's been like a month since I've posted.... :-( I love blogging, and I wish I could find more things to blog about.

So.....
This past weekend, I led a purity conference for the girls in AIM. We had it at my house, and all the girls came over for the weekend.
We went through five study sessions-

  • Community/Opening
  • Self-Worth
  • Purity
  • Modesty
  • And again- Community/Closing
I guess it could have just been called a girls' weekend, but we called it a purity weekend.
My plan was to have it go something like- Because we are worth something, we need to be pure. AIM has also been really trying to become more like a family. For the weekend, I had people in groups of two. These were their prayer partners. They were told to be open with each other. I really liked this part of the weekend. It gave all the girls an opportunity to get to know each other better.
All the girls seemed to have a good time. All in all... it was a really tiring weekend for me.. I'm still exhausted. But it was worth it. :)

When you are just so very down.......

I get what it feels like to be down. Down where you feel like everyone else is far away. You are alone. Down where hope seems far away. Down where it's hard to keep going.
So, when you are at this point, what do you do?
Give up?
Put a smile on for the world and just keep putting one foot in front of the other?
Where does God come in on all this?
Where is He when you feel like this? When you are in this mess?
Well, He's there. He hasn't left you.
I would really just encourage you during this time to really seek the Lord. Ask Him for strength. Ask Him to help you. To rescue you. To pull you through. Read His word and meditate on it.
I would also recommend talking to a close friend about your struggle(s). Talk to them about it and then ask them to keep you in your prayers.
These are two of things I recommend. I hope they were at least a little helpful. :)
Blessings,
Bekah

People... They Struggle

People. Well, they struggle. They live in a fallen world. They are going to have struggles. So, of course, I know people who struggle. Like everyone I know has struggled. And some people I have just want to give them hug and tell them everything is going to be alright. And when I feel like I can't do anything to help them..... I feel helpless...... (Okay, maybe I overact a little in this area). Maybe I have a lack of trust in the Lord during times when people I love are struggling.
So, how should people help those who are struggling? What is the correct and godly response?
My mother would probably tell me just to love the person and be there for them. And then, of course, shower them in prayer. I also believe that this is the right response.
So, for those in your life that are struggling-
1. Be there for them. And make sure they know you are there for them.
2. Listen to them. If they want to talk about something, listen to them and don't just butt in your advice or whatnot..... wait till they finish and if they want your advice or a word from you than give it. Sometimes though, there are the times where you should say something even if they don't want to hear it, so use discernment when this problem arises.
3. Pray for them/shower them with prayer
4. Just love them. And maybe tell them that you appreciate them and care about them once in a while. :)

Have a blessed week,
Bekah

A few quotes by Charles H. Spurgeon. I hope they are able to encourage you even if only in a small way today. :)

“When your will is God's will, you will have your will.”

“Faith goes up the stairs that love has built and looks out the windows which hope has opened.”
